Two Students Receive Prestigious Noise Control Engineering Excellence Medal

Institute of Noise Control Engineering’s Leo Beranek Student Medal for Excellence in the Study of Noise Control awarded to University of Texas and University of Cincinnati Students

RESTON, VA. – June 24, 2020 – The Institute of Noise Control Engineering (INCE-USA) announced today that Chia-Ching Lin from the University of Texas at Arlington and Guo Long of the University of Cincinnati were awarded this year’s Leo Beranek Student Medal for Excellence in the Study of Noise Control. The Leo Beranek Medal is awarded annually by INCE to outstanding undergraduate and graduate students at academic institutions in North America that have courses in, or related to, noise control engineering, including practical applications.

The Beranek Student Medal was established with the support of the INCE Foundation to promote education in noise control engineering. INCE is the leading noise control engineering association in North America helping to enable a quieter, better world for all.

“Noise control engineering is one of the few careers where you can impact the daily lives of many different people in various ways.” Said Michael Bahtiarian, president, INCE. “For almost a decade, INCE has recognized academically outstanding college students pursuing careers in noise control engineering. This year’s award winners come from two of the leading noise control academic programs in the United States. These student’s academic preparation and practical hands-on experience were exemplary. I expect they will have wonderful careers in noise control engineering.”

Candidates for the Beranek Student Medal are selected by their respective academic institutions and nominated by a member of the faculty. An institution may submit up to two nominations per calendar year, one for a student who graduated or will be graduating with a baccalaureate degree and one for a student who graduated or will be graduating with a graduate degree. INCE reviews nominations and selects awardees based on documented evidence of excellence in the study of noise control engineering.
