There are two types of conferences organized by INCE-USA that occur in North America, NOISE-CON and INTER-NOISE.
NOISE-CON occurs annually, except in years where INTER-NOISE is hosted in North America. in those years, NOISE-CON does not occur.
INTER-NOISE occurs annually and its location cycles between three international regions: the Americas, Europe and Africa, and the Asia-Pacific region. When INTER-NOISE is hosted in North America, INCE-USA is usually the organizer.
NOISE-CON is an annual conference organized and run by INCE-USA. While international contributions are encouraged, the primary focus of this conference is noise control in North America. The proceedings from this conference are published by INCE-USA and can be found in the INCE-USA Digital Library: Institute of Noise Control Engineering (ingentaconnect.com). The conference is held in different locations throughout North America annually. However, in years where INTER-NOISE is hosted in North America, NOISE-CON does not occur.
The INTER-NOISE conferences are a program of the International Institute of Noise Control Engineering (I-INCE). This is an organization of national professional societies and associations representing noise control professionals. There are over 50 organizations that are members of I-INCE representing over 40 countries. The annual INTER-NOISE Congress rotates between three regions: the Americas, Europe and Africa, and the Asia-Pacific region. These are large conferences with a strong international attendance. Noise control issues from around the world are the focus of these conferences: http://i-ince.org/congresses.php. The INTER-NOISE Congress is held in the Americas approximately once every three years. When the Congress is held in North America, INCE-USA is usually the organizer. Because of the international nature of these congresses, they tend to be larger than the NOISE-CON conferences.
