Urban’s team offers a wide range of skills and collectively has over 60 years’ experience in the energy sector including oil & natural gas, renewable natural gas, power generation, mining, and renewable energy; with expertise in project development and operations ranging from 50,000hp compressor stations, to 600MW cryptocurrency installations and 20MW solar energy projects. Core services include comprehensive mitigation planning, design and installation noise mitigation products , environmental noise modeling, noise level monitoring, and Urban’s NavPlanIQ Software. Software services include stakeholder engagement and grievance management tracking to support project permit and execution efforts as well as a central hosting location for all Urban acoustical engineering services among other features. Our team is highly skilled in providing cost effective solutions, through strategic planning for execution of large-scale operations in urban areas.

Job Summary:

Urban is seeking a dynamic Engineer to join the team! The position will include both office and field work. Travel will be required and will include both local and out of state locations (estimated at 25% of time and can fluctuate). We are looking for a self-starter, detail oriented and creative thinker that will be a significant asset to our growing team. Primary responsibilities include field noise data acquisition, noise source characterization, as well as utilizing predicative software to complete sound analysis, acoustical modeling, and reporting for commercial and industrial operations. You will become an industrial noise modeling and mitigation expert in every sense, and contribute to technological innovation using disruptive technologies and methodologies in both acoustical modeling and noise mitigation product development. The position includes base R&D for new modeling and mitigation products/services as well as technical analysis for comprehensive mitigation plans and support for product development and field activities. You will work closely with both operations and sales. Job duties consist of but are not limited to:

  • Deploy, retrieve, and maintain remote noise and weather monitoring equipment
  • Some travel is expected (mainly local with some out of state, up to 25% and can fluctuate)
  • Field data collection, post-processing, analysis, noise modeling, and technical reporting
  • Generation of comprehensive Noise Impact Assessment reports and Noise Mitigation Plans
  • Attention to detail and keeping accurate data records
  • Follow, create, and modify standard operating procedures
  • Generate technical reports and modify report and data processing templates
  • Technical material preparation and presentation for clients
  • Schedule management
  • Engineering support for field activities and sales
  • Customer Service and client relationship building
  • Provide backup support for field-level sound wall operations
  • Work well with others in a team orientated environment

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline
  • Excellent communicator (both oral and written)
  • Self-motivated with ability to learn quickly
  • Must be able to occasionally work extended hours, including weekends and holidays as needed and able to be ‘on-call’ for 24/7 noise monitoring and field operations
  • Technical writing experience (examples of technical reports and/or papers may be required during interview process)
  • Able to pass a drug test at time of onboarding and continuously while employed
  • Must be able to carry up to 50 lbs for a reasonable distance
  • Must have valid driver's license and ability to rent vehicles

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with environmental or industrial noise control engineering or related acoustics discipline (architectural, etc.)
  • Experience with field data acquisition and/or noise monitoring
  • Familiarity with industrial noise mitigation products
  • Experience on site with oil & natural gas, renewables, crypto currency, power generation, and new technologies
  • Social interface between community and client operations
  • Ability to oversee and prioritize multiple tasks and projects in high paced environment
  • Possesses a high level of initiative and can work effectively with minimum supervision
