Urban’s team offers a wide range of skills and collectively has over 60 years’ experience in the energy sector including oil & gas, power generation, mining, and renewable energy; with expertise in project development operations ranging from 50,000hp compressor stations, to 600MW cryptocurrency installations and 12MW solar energy projects. Core engineering services include acoustical modeling, comprehensive mitigation planning and mitigation deployment, with a team highly skilled in providing cost effective solutions, through strategic planning for execution of large-scale operations in urban areas.

Job Summary:

Urban is seeking a dynamic acoustical engineer to join the team! The position will include both office and field work. We are looking for a self-motivated, collaborative, and creative thinker that will be a significant asset to our growing team. Primary responsibilities will include field data acquisition, noise source characterization, as well as utilizing predicative software to complete sound analysis, acoustical modeling, and reporting for commercial and industrial operations. You will become an industrial noise modeling and mitigation expert in every sense and contribute to technological innovation using disruptive technologies and methodologies in both acoustical modeling and mitigation product development. The position includes base R&D for new modeling and mitigation products/services as well as technical analysis for comprehensive mitigation plans and support for product development and field activities. You will work closely with both operations and sales. Job duties consist of but are not limited to:

  • Deploy and retrieve sound monitors in the field (most travel required is in the state, but a small amount of out of state travel may be required as well on a project basis)
  • Field data collection, post-processing, analysis, noise modeling and reporting
  • Generation of comprehensive Noise Impact Assessment reports and mitigation plans
  • Base R&D, and support for innovative product development
  • Engineering support for field activities and sales
  • Project management
  • Client account management
  • Technical material preparation and presentation for clients
  • Provide support for cloud-based systems and engineering software

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline
  • Mechanical Engineering, Acoustical Engineering or equivalent with a focus on industrial noise and environmental acoustics preferred
  • Experience in acoustical modeling with SoundPLAN, Predictor or CadnaA
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communicator, both oral and written
  • Self-motivated with ability to learn technical material quickly
  • Must be able to occasionally work extended hours, including weekends and holidays as needed
  • Able to pass a drug test at time of onboarding and continuously while employed
  • Must be able to carry up to 50 lbs. for a reasonable distance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with industrial noise mitigation products and methodologies
  • Background in computer science and programming
  • Experience in equipment design with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or related software
  • Experience with stress analysis modeling
  • Experience in oil & gas, renewables, power generation, mining and new technologies
  • Ability to oversee and prioritize multiple tasks and projects in high paced environment
  • Possesses a high level of initiative and can work effectively with minimum supervision
