Aircraft acoustic holography

Blue Ridge Research and Consulting (BRRC) and Brigham Young University are developing a Near-Field Acoustic Holography (NAH) measurement system to better understand noise from the new generation of military jet aircraft, and the resultant exposure to ground maintenance personnel and the community at large. NAH is an innovative approach to measuring the magnitude, directivity, spectral content, and spatial distribution of the noise field, and extensive testing on an F-22 jet plume has been performed with the NAH measurement system (shown in the attached photo).
