Session Titles and Descriptions for Noise-Con 2008
Technical Activity 11.0: Building Acoustics
11.1
11.2 Multi Family and Multi-Use Building Sound Isolation - Go back - Submit Abstract
INCE Organizers: Jeff Kwolkoski, Mandy Kachur
Many parts of the country are experiencing a boom in the construction of multi-family residential buildings. Often the residential buildings are being designed to include retail, office, restaurants, parking, or other occupancies within the same multi-use building or complex. We invite authors to submit papers on all aspects of sound isolation and noise control related to these building types.
11.3 Noise Control for Schools - Go back - Submit Abstract
INCE Organizer: Kenric Van Wyk
It has now been five years since ANSI S12.60 was adopted in 2002. This standard has set the benchmark for good acoustical design in educational facilities. There can be many challenges meeting the full intent of the standard for room acoustics, noise isolation, and background noise levels. We invite authors to submit papers on their experience with the standard and to share how design challenges were overcome, construction issues were resolved, and commissioning studies were completed to comply with the standard to transform the spaces in which we learn.
11.4
11.5 Noise Control for Hospitals - Go back - Submit Abstract
INCE Organizer: Erica Ryherd
We invite authors to submit papers on noise and vibration control for hospitals and other health care facilities. This could include topics such as noise surveys, occupant response evaluations, industry case studies, medical equipment/HVAC noise control, or standards and legislation.
11.6 Plumbing, Elevator, and Building System Noise - Go back - Submit Abstract
INCE Organizer: Jim Phillips
This session will present papers related to the measurement, analysis, or control of noise from various sources in multi-family buildings beyond those related to exterior sources or controlled by the isolation between units. Of special interest will be any papers that can relate occupant annoyance to the noise levels from these sources of building noise.
