28-31 July 2008, Dearborn, Michigan, USA

The Institute of Noise Control Engineering/USA Noise-Con 2008 and SQS-2008. Conferences will be held 28-31 July at the Hyatt Regency Dearborn. .

To facilitate interaction among a wide spectrum of noise control professionals, the 30th annual conference of ASME’s Noise Control and Acoustics Division (NCAD) will be held in conjunction with Noise-Con 2008.

In these jointly organized conferences, over 200 papers will be presented on a wide variety of topics related to noise control and acoustics including active noise control, vehicle interior noise, building acoustics, community noise and many more.

There will be tours to Ford Rouge Factory and Application Research Center.

There is also a large exposition of vendors of noise-control related materials, software and instrumentation as well as consulting companies. The exposition hours are Monday July 28 5:00-7:00pm and Tuesday July 29 1:00-7:30pm.

Plenary talks for Noise-Con 2008 will be given by Dr. Sean Wu, University Distinguished Professor, Wayne State University; Dr. Richard Price, Auditory Hazard Analysis; and Dr. Martin Pollack, Corporate Scientist, Applied Physical Sciences Corporation for Noise-Con 2008.

Prior to the conference, there will be three short courses on INCE Fundamental Exam Preparation, Common Practices for Vibration Control of Mechanical Equipment in Commercial Buildings, and Statistical Energy Analysis of Noise and Vibration Problems.

The Hyatt Regency is also the site of the 2008 Sound Quality Symposium to be held July 31, 2007 after Noise-Con 2008 (28-30 July, 2008) This is the third in a series of highly successful symposia that have been held in the Detroit area (SQS98 and SQS2002). .

This symposium starts with a plenary by Prof. William Hartmann who will talk on Sound Quality with Two Ears. A wide variety of topics are addressed in the papers ranging for fundamental issues in perception of sound to applications of sound quality to engineering product design and noise control.

There will be an exposition running throughout the day during the Sound Quality Symposium from 9:30am to 4pm.
