Session Titles and Descriptions for NoiseCon 2007

Technical Activity 1.0: Sources and Propagation

1.1 Noise Modeling and Mitigation
- Go back

Organizer: Kai Ming Li

We invite papers on source and propagation modeling for noise, prediction and measurement of effectiveness of mitigation strategies, and impact of local environments on noise impact quantification. Papers are also welcome on global models of environmental noise that include multiple distributed sources, e.g., combined road, rail and airport noise.

1.2 Fan Noise - Go back

Organizers: Tim Brungart, Jay Kim

The fan noise session welcomes papers on general fan noise modeling, measurement, reduction and case studies.

1.3 Spaceflight Related Fan Noise Issues
- Consolidated with sessions 1.2 and 8.3

1.4 Modeling of emissions and imission
s - Go back

Organizers: Micah Downing, Kai Ming Li

We invite papers describing models of noise generation mechanisms and sound prediction, and papers describing models of how sound impacts people, animals and structures.

1.5 Impulsive Sound Propagation
- Go back

Organizer: Michael White

Noise from impulsive sound sources can often perceived as annoying even at longer distances than for steady sources. At distance increases, lower frequencies become prominent, yet propagation of these impulsive signals outdoors can be affected by weather conditions, topography, ground type and ground conditions. This session will feature many topics that affect impulsive sound propagation and examine what this might mean for noise control efforts.
