Senior Air Quality and/or Noise Specialist

The staff at LSA includes experts in environmental analysis, transportation planning and engineering, biology and wetlands, habitat restoration, resource management, geographic information systems (GIS), community and land planning, landscape architecture, archaeology and paleontology, water quality, noise, and air quality. We are actively seeking a Senior Air Quality and/or Noise Specialist for our Berkeley, Fresno, and Irvine, California offices. This is a regular, full-time, salaried position and will report to the principal of that department. 

Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct and supervise air quality and acoustical modeling and field studies
  • Conduct research; and prepare environmental assessments/documents and technical studies
  • Ability to communicate with clients is key, as is a demonstrated interest in business development and ability to prepare a scope of work and cost estimate

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in an engineering, science, environmental, or urban planning field
  • Three to five years of professional experience
  • Candidates must have excellent writing, presentation, interpersonal, and time management skills, in addition to an active interest in planning issues and environmental review

Knowledge of the following is desired:

  • Basic air quality principles, analysis methodologies, and regulatory guidelines;
  • Air quality and noise models, including URBEMIS, EMFAC, Caline4, and the FHWA traffic noise prediction models (experience with TNM 2.5 is a plus);
  • Air Quality Management District and Air Pollution Control District regulatory programs and their relationship to the Federal Clean Air Act; CEQA Guidelines and assessment requirements; and
  • Fundamentals of noise, characteristics of sound, and noise regulatory guidelines
