Airside Test Engineer II - York 021240
Responsibilies and Duties
This position is responsible for operation and maintenance of the Air Handler Test Laboratory at our Manufacturing & Technology campus located in York, PA. Responsibilities include sound and air-performance testing of air-handing and air-distribution units, in support of research, product development and customer sales orders.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Coordinate and schedule testing with internal and external customers
- Prepare test plans per in-house procedures and industry standards, which include the unit layout, configuration and test points
- Coordinate the test setup and teardown of air-handling equipment according to industry standards and procedures
- Design, fabricate and assemble any special test fixtures
- Check the operation and calibrate the test instrumentation before each test
- Conduct unit testing via the test console, which consist of moving the unit from one test point to another and acquiring sound and/or performance data
- Conduct special sound intensity tests in support of product development projects or customer witness tests
- Review of test results and export to a spreadsheet or database
- Prepare test reports for customer sales order testing
- Specify, select and install components and equipment required to support laboratory activities
- Maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation
- Maintain sensor and instrument calibration and certificates
- Maintain Laboratory NVLAP and AMCA accreditation
- Conduct sound and vibration tests that may be performed in the field for contract/sales order support
Skills and Abilities
Good verbal and written communication skills are required, particularly in the form of test reports. Ability to work with a team of engineers on fast paced, projects is a requirement. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite is required. Experience in sound and air-performance testing of fans and AHUs is a big plus.
Experience with the following test instrumentation is a plus:
- B&K sound level meters and the B&K 2260 intensity analyzer
- National Instruments test platforms
Education and Experience
Candidates will be considered with any of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and (2) years experience in acoustic and vibration testing
- Experience directly related to sound and air-performance testing of fans and AHUs
- Any training related to the sales and service of HAVC equipment is also a plus
